Ever since Martin Freeman stepped into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, fans have been wondering just what role he’ll play in "Captain America: Civil War." Last month, it was rumored he would be playing Everett Ross, a government agent and interrogator who is a Wakandan expert, giving the character ties to Black Panther. Now comes another possible role for the actor.
Latino Review, who reported the initial rumor, is now hearing that Freeman will be playing Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Edward Chase. **SPOILERS AHEAD** Apparently, ‘Civil War’ will kick off with a mission that involves British soldiers that goes badly for the Avengers, which finds Chase getting into the mix as he argues that the superhero group needs to have oversight. Things get even more interesting. During "Avengers: Age Of Ultron" there is a moment when Andy Serkis‘ Klaw says into the phone, "Now, Minister, where were we?" That could be Chase on the other end, perhaps trying to get vibranium to make weapons to deal with those who have superpowers. And Chase’s knowledge of Klaw will come up later in ‘Civil War,’ too.
Whether or not this means a cameo appearance by Serkis as well is unknown, but certainly that door is open. And as always, none of this is official. Though the connecting dots make a lot of sense, as does Freeman in the role. "Captain America: Civil War" arrives on May 6, 2016.
Not sure why Freeman is polluting the Marvel movie universe, but whatever. If it gives Chris Evans or RDJ the opportunity to punch the little twerp out, so much the better! I\’d pay just to see that.
Is that a Dr Strange stand in you see in the background lol
Eh, some type of governmental role was still my first guess and it\’s what I\’m sticking with.
There is no such thing as the \’Prime Minister of England\’. There is, however, a Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. England is in the United Kingdom.
