Here’s the latest poster for Ed Zwick’s much-buzzed about, seemingly purposefully mis-marketed romantic drama “Love & Other Drugs” starring “Brokeback Mountain” pair Jake Gyllenhaal and Anne Hathaway.
Despite being marketed as fluffy rom-com here, the film is actually supposed to be a dramatic tale following a lothario salesman competing in the cutthroat world of Viagra sales who enters a relationship with a woman (Hathaway) suffering from Parkinson’s disease. Gabriel Macht, Judy Greer, Oliver Platt, Josh Gad and Hank Azaria co-star in the story based on Jamie Reidy’s nonfiction book, “Hard Sell: The Evolution of a Viagra Salesman.”
The pic has been garnering some award season buzz with a lot of praise for Hathaway. “[She] really knocks it out of the park. She’s amazing, wonderful,” a reader wrote to Hollywood Elsewhere. “The core of the romance is Jake’s overcoming his shallow relationship history, and Anne overcoming her emotionally aloof thing. And she’s really wonderful, absolutely wonderful.”
Some have even cited the actress as a lock for an Oscar nomination though it’s probably far too early for a call like that — the mostly comedic supporting cast screams Golden Globes more, we think.
