Got a Tip?

New Pics From Neil Jordan’s ‘Byzantium’ & ‘The Hunger Games’

nullIt's Monday morning and we're all trying to recover from one of the most predictable Oscar ceremonies in recent history, so let's try and wake ourselves up with some pictures from two of this years' highly anticipated projects.

The first is from Neil Jordan's "Byzantium," the director's first feature since the under-seen and under-appreciated "Ondine" in 2009. That film could very loosely (and inevitably inaccurately) be described as a mermaid story, but his latest is a vampire story and stars Sam Riley, Tom Hallander, Danny Mays, and Saoirse Ronan and Gemma Arterton as the vampire mother and daughter you can see pictured. Up to now we'd seen images of Ronan looking Little Red Riding Hood-esque, and Arterton positively popping out of a red dress in leaked set pics, but this is the first we've seen of them together and it looks like they're at a fun fair. We weren't particularly stoked for another vampire film, but with this cast and Jordan at the helm we're definitely interested.

Next is an image from a film which looks set to kick some ass and take some names at the box office in the next few months – "The Hunger Games." This image features Donald Sutherland as President Snow and he's totally standing at a podium and wearing a suit, and it looks like he's managed to escape with a significantly less awful hair and make-up job than the majority of the supporting cast. If you don't know anything about "The Hunger Games" then you've probably been living under a rock, but I think it's safe to say that it's on the brink of becoming the new "Twilight" (but may actually be good) and has shades (ahem) of "Battle Royale." We'll find out when it hits theatres on March 23rd. [Bleeding Cool/CinemaBlend]null
