A myriad of new images from Terry Gilliam’s “The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus” have been revealed online and while we’ve seen all these characters before — Heath Ledger and the various doppelgangers who play him in the film — it’s really the first time we’ve seen good high-quality stills of Johnny Depp, Jude Law, and Colin Farrell. Plus you get another look at Tom Waits as the devil.
There’s definitely a magical whimsical quality to them that looks fairly appealing (because you know we obviously “hate” this film and all) and by that we mean (because everything we say here is loaded) is they look more appealing here than they do in the trailer. But you know to each their own, especially if it’s going to cause a silly flame war.
Meanwhile, those rumors that Colin Farrell might stand-in for Johnny Depp in “The Man Who Killed Don Quixote? Gilliam says, poppycock, they’re just rumors. “Colin’s brilliant and I’d love to work with Colin. [but] I can’t say anything about the casting at the moment because we’re just starting that process, but Colin I would never say no to. That’s a good rumor,” he told Digital Spy.
“The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus” open Christmas Day via Sony Pictures classics and on top of playing at the Toronto Film Festival, it will also have it’s U.S. premiere at the annual Hamptons Film Festival, closing the event on Oct. 12.
Those stills are really great. Even if you don't like Gilliam's films, from a design and technical perspective, Parnassus looks like it's worth a look.
Thanks for the pictures and positive early word on this film Craig. Terry G hasn’t hit the ball out of the park for a while but I’m always open to the possibility.
I kind of assumed the Farrell/Quixote business was false the minute The Playlist dedicated a blog to the "rumor".
Looks like their info about Parnassus closing the Hamptons Festival on the 11th is wrong as well.
Both Indiewire and the Hamptons Festival office is saying the film will play on Monday October the 12th. Not the 11th.

The film stills look great. Thanks for snagging them. I always look forward to a new Gilliam film. I remember thinking after Ledger died that if anyone at all were to replace him, I thought it should be Depp and no one else, because he' so good at transformation. And well, let's face it, because he's Johnny Depp. But now I'm really glad that Gilliam completed the film the way he did. In retrospect, I think just one replacement would have made it glaring that he's a replacement. But with the face of Tony changing each time he steps through the mirror, I think it's going to work great. Might even be better than had it been only one actor. And he got three great actors to step in. I hope the Quixote rumors resurface into a reality. I think Farrell would be a great choice.
Snide comments aside, Farrell would have been an excellent choice for Quixote, but not sure why the Parnassus fans here aren't with that.
"not sure why the Parnassus fans here aren't with that."
What are you talking about? He was never a choice to begin with outside you and the tabloids imagination.
