Here is a new look at Julie Taymor’s upcoming gender-bending adaptation of William Shakespeare’s “The Tempest” featuring Russell Brand and Alfred Molina, who’ll play Trinculo and Stephano respectively.
Shot in Hawaii, the film follows Helen Mirren’s Prospera — seen below in an extended look at a previously seen photo — a woman scorned after being unjustly usurped and exiled by the brother of her deceased husband so he can claim her title. Also starring will be the likes of David Strathairn, Djimon Hounsou, Reeve Carney, Alan Cumming, Alfred Molina, Chris Cooper, Felicity Jones, Ben Whishaw and Russell Brand in what promises to be a visually stunning adaptation in the vein of her debut “Titus” and a potential late season awards contender.
The film will feature at this year’s Venice and New York Film Festivals before hitting theaters on December 10th. [Collider]
