New Look At Daniel Day-Lewis In Costume (Not Eating Dinner) In Steven Spielberg’s ‘Lincoln’

nullWhen we recently caught up with Steven Spielberg's longtime producer Kathleen Kennedy, she addressed that picture of a bearded Daniel Day-Lewis that made the rounds of him eating dinner, but still looking every bit the lead of "Lincoln." "That's not actually his Lincoln beard," Kennedy told us. "That's just what he looks like right now. He wasn't in hair, makeup, wardrobe, or anything when that picture was taken. He had just gone out that evening, he was just having dinner, and someone snapped a photo of him. But doesn't he look like Lincoln in blue jeans?" Well yes, he does. And the good news is that in full costume, he looks the part too.

The Richmond Times-Dispatch (via The Film Stage) have snapped a set photo of DDL in his full regalia, chatting it up with Spielberg. And yes, he does look like the president. Based on the best-selling book “Team of Rivals” by Pulitzer Prize-winning historian Doris Kearns Goodwin and featuring a script by Tony Kushner (”Angels In America”), the film will focus on the tumultuous last four months of Lincoln's life as he focused on pushing the 13th Amendment that would end slavery through congress.

DDL will be joined by a pretty awesome cast which includes Sally Field, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Tommy Lee Jones, John Hawkes, Hal Holbrook, James Spader, Tim Blake Nelson, David Strathairn, Walton Goggins, Lee Pace, Jackie Earle Haley, David Oyelowo and Jared Harris. Filming is currently underway in Virginia, with a late 2012 release in the works.
