Now that we're well into 2012, more and more is being revealed about some of the year's biggest films, thanks in part to Entertainment Weekly. The magazine's annual 2012 preview issue has already provided some key first looks at various upcoming releases, including "The Dark Knight Rises." Not everything is quite as rabidly anticipated as Christopher Nolan's third Batman film, but there's plenty more spectacle where that came from. Indeed, one of the newest images contains what looks to be the most incredible, gravity-defying special effect of the year: Amanda Seyfried's bubble-perm.
Yes, in our second glimpse of the "Mamma Mia!" star, along with co-star Peter Sarsgaard, in the biopic of "Deep Throat" star Linda Lovelace, the hair and make-up people show that they're not afraid to really run with the 1970s setting, and have equipped their leads with impressive wigs and facial hair. But enough of the things they are wearing, what won't they be wearing?
Well, the more scurrilous of you will be glad to know, not a lot. According to Patrick Muldoon, a producer at backers Eclectic Pictures, "It's going to be very risqué. It's a new thing for her, but it's not about nudity," he said about Seyfried's skin baring to E!. "It's profound, the performance that she's giving…She's doing such an amazing job. We're about two weeks into filming, and the movie's going to be incredible. Thematically, it's talking about how abusive the porn industry was to Linda Lovelace. Yes, there's a lot of nudity, but it's a message movie about respecting women." Respecting women apparently includes talking up the fact that your lead actress gets naked before filming has even finished on the project. Classy.
In a more blockbustery manner, the magazine also features images from Ridley Scott's "Prometheus," providing a new look at the film's central couple, played by Noomi Rapace and we-couldn't-get-Tom-Hardy-so-we-got-a-guy-who-looks-kind-of-like-him newcomer Logan Marshall-Green; a glimpse of Stanley Tucci's crazy future wardrobe in "The Hunger Games"; Will Smith inside some kind of circular gadgetery in "Men in Black 3" and a newish look at Andrew Garfield as "The Amazing Spider-Man." See them all below.
EW is on newstands now, and the films are starting to roll out sooner than you think: "The Hunger Games" hits on March 23rd, followed by "Men in Black 3" on May 25th, "Prometheus" on June 8th, "The Amazing Spider-Man" on July 3rd, and "Lovelace" some time in the fall.
Google Mr. Garrison's IT and that is exactly what Will Smith is riding. Spiderman looks like he's totally concentrating to squeeze one out, could have picked a way better screen grab.
