Iconic horror characters don’t stay dead for long, and it was only a matter of time until Freddy Kreuger returned to haunt audience’s dreams. It’s been five years since the decently successful but critically maligned reboot starring Jackie Earle Haley, and even longer since Robert Englund‘s turn in "Freddy vs. Jason," so the time has come for a new actor put on the razor gloves.
The Wrap reports that New Line has tapped David Leslie Johnson (“Orphan,” "Red Riding Hood," "Wrath Of The Titans") to write the screenplay for the new ‘Nightmare,’ though there’s no word yet on what the approach might be. It’s probably safe to say the basic mechanics of the long-running franchise will be in place.

Can\’t Wait! Love when they can bring back an old classic and revamp it with the new generation!
I\’d like to see some sort of deal between a new distributor and the original owner of the rights to a classic do some co-operation and see just well re-releasing the original would do. I\’d bet dollars to donuts that a two week limited release would do quite well and would show a better ROI quicker than a re-boot would!
Okay then!
