Cannes you feel it? (Ha ha, groan). We’re less than two weeks from red carpets being rolled out on the Croisette and with the lineup now firmed, all we can do is wait for the movies to arrive. And until that moment when the lights dim and the reels or digital bits unspool, these new images from Guillaume Canet‘s “Blood Ties” will hold it down.
Playing Out Of Competition, the movie brings together a first rate ensemble — Clive Owen, Mila Kunis, Matthias Schoenaerts, Zoe Saldana. James Caan, Marion Cotillard, Noah Emmerich, Lili Taylor — in the saga of two brothers, the younger of which (Crudup) is asked by his older convict sibling (Owen) to go back into the underworld to help out his family. As these images suggest, that request has it’s fair share of consequences. James Gray helped out in getting the script put together for the movie that’s a remake of the 2008 French thriller “Les Liens Du Sang” (which also starred Canet).
No stateside distribution yet, but with this cast it’s probably only a matter of time. Let your eyeballs scan below…
Cotillard brings TWO completed films in this year, while beginning work on two more. I so admire this work ethic she displays. A true artist works for passion, not money or fame. She is a genius.
Meanwhile… Canet next film, directed by André Téchiné, with Catherine Deneuve, needs our money to be made on Ulule (French Kickstarter).

One of the most promising project of the year. What a great cast! I love the pics, notably Cotillard's.
