Yo, you want some Jay-Z with your classic English literature? How about some blazing hip hop beatz in a Jazz Age drama? Inspired mashup or potential disaster? The jury is still out on Baz Luhrmann's "The Great Gatsby" but there is no doubt that on a visual level, this film will be nothing short of a knockout.
A small batch of new images have arrived, giving us a better look at the impossibly good-looking cast led by Leonardo DiCaprio as Jay Gatsby, Carey Mulligan as Daisy Buchanan, and Tobey Maguire as Nick Carraway. As HeyUGuys notes, the image above shows Jay and Nick being served at The Angry Diamond, which is sly reference to this line from the third chapter of F. Scott Fitzgerald's novel: “… at intervals she appeared suddenly at his side like an angry diamond, and hissed: 'You promised!' into his ear.” We have to admit, it's a pretty nice little touch and there will likely be more nods throughout the movie for literature heads to pick up on.
Featuring Joel Edgerton, Isla Fisher, Jason Clarke, Amitabh Bachchan, Callan MacAuliffe and more, "The Great Gatsby" arrives in 3D on Christmas Day.
This movie is definitely going to be awesome. I enjoyed reading The Great Gatsby in high school, but last week I read an awesome article on The Great Gatsby and its cultural legacy in Forbes magazine of all places……… but later on I realized that if Jay Gatsby were alive he would he reading Forbes 🙂 This is the link (it will push you to see the movie for sure):

This movie will be the movie of the year and I'm predicting 5-6 Oscar nominations and at least 2 wins. Eat it haters.
