A couple of new images each from two movies about couples under strain — one facing a deadly tsunami that tears their family apart, the other squaring off against the Volturi who want to tear their family apart.
The first one is obviously "The Impossible," Juan Antonio Bayona's high anticipated drama centered around the devastating 2004 Boxing Day tsunami, with Naomi Watts and Ewan McGregor as a married couple who struggle to survive as their vacation is literally washed away in one tragic moment. The film solidified its Oscar potential with a pretty great trailer last week, though it remains to be seen if this will be White People Problems: Holiday Edition or a film that uses the two stars to give a broader portrait of that horrific event.
We'll find out soon enough, as "The Impossible" premieres at TIFF in a couple of weeks before opening on December 21st. [Facebook]
Meanwhile, a movie that you won't have to mistake for an Oscar contender, the franchise (and relationship?) ending "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 2" is coming to finally end the story about Edward, Bella, Jacob and everyone else.
In case you care, the story will find RPatz and KStew as parents, raising their little hellion Renesmee, who the Volturi believe is some kind of immortal kid or something, and they venture to try to kill her. Something like that. We sort of don't care about the details. Either you're seeing this or you're not, and you already know which camp you fall into. If you're the former, then you might get something out of these new pics.
'Breaking Dawn 2' hits on November 16th. [MTV]
