We now have some new images from Greg Mottola’s geek road trip comedy “Paul.” The film follows two Brit sci-fi geeks (Simon Pegg and Nick Frost) whose “pilgrimage to Comic-Con ultimately takes them to America’s UFO heartland. While there, they accidentally meet an alien (Seth Rogen) who takes them on an insane road trip that alters their universe forever.”
The film was originally slated to hit theaters this year but was pushed to next year, eventually landing on a March 18, 2011 release date. The cause for the delay is the complicated nature of the effects work with Pegg tweeting “Due to an extensive post production schedule you won’t be seeing our little desert caper any time soon. Rest assured it will be worth it.” That said, the film will be presented at Comic-Con (where we snagged that plot synopsis above) in a couple of weeks where attendees are sure to be getting a glimpse at footage from the film. We have to say, we love how, well, geeky Pegg and Frost look and are curious to see the result of Rogen’s transformation into an alien.
Joining Pegg, Frost and Rogen is a stellar cast including Kristen Wiig, Jason Bateman, Bill Hader, Sigourney Weaver, Blythe Danner, Jane Lynch, Jeffrey Tambor, Joe Lo Truglio and David Koechner, so we’re expecting the laughs to be big and come quickly. [Collider]
