After the recent unveiling of posters for Francis Ford Coppola‘s “Twixt” that seem more indicative of the film’s dark, gothic tones, a handful of new images have been released, including the first glimpse at Coppola family favorite Alden Ehrenreich and vet Bruce Dern in the film along with star Val Kilmer.
Inspired by a dream of Coppola’s, the film follows Kilmer, playing a Mario Puzo-like writer with a declining career, who arrives in a small town as part of his book tour and gets caught up in a murder mystery involving a young girl (a ghostly Fanning). Judging from the pictures, it looks like Ehrenreich will play some sort of fantastical character as his look is very similar to Fanning’s ghost, while Dern looks like the town’s law enforcement. The cast also features Joanne Whalley, Ben Chaplin, Don Novello and David Paymer, with the film also lining up a tour of sorts which will see live presentations and on the fly cutting and scoring (by Dan Deacon) — as he did at Comic-Con.
The partially 3D film is aiming for a Halloween release but will hit TIFF in September first. Check out the pics below. [Facebook]
I Love Val Kilmer…..I hope this film does well. I can\’t wait to see it!
This looks to be a very good movie and I am anxious to see my bird and bat house business on the big screen so all the movie goers will want to visit me and buy a movie prop.
The last three images are meh. But the first one (along with earlier Fanning image) make the film seem sort of like someone trying to be dark.
But i\’ll see this. I hated Youth Without Youth but loved Tetro.
This looks great, definitely an antidote to the overblown, underwritten CG crap we\’ve had foisted on us for the past four months.
this looks really awful and yet I can\’t wait to see it.
