A question mark remains stamped on Bong Joon-ho‘s post-apocalyptic “Snowpiercer.” While the film is smashing records in South Korea, and has earned early rave reviews, rumored plans to trim and re-edit the movie have caused concern in many quarters, including from actor Chris Evans himself. The Weinstein Company has yet to set a U.S. release date, and it doesn’t look like it will be making its way to any film festivals this fall. So for now, all we can do is look at images and imagine what they might look like with movement.
Another batch of stills from the film have landed, along with some concept art. These new pics not only go into the grimy train, but we get to see Alison Pill as a schoolteacher it seems (and the hippest one around), some more of the supporting players, and also John Hurt, Tilda Swinton and Chris Evans as well. Overall, it’s another reminder that we want to see this movie, but it probably won’t be at a theater near us until sometime next year, at the earliest.
“Snowpiercer” will continue to roll out internationally in a few territories through the end of 2013. Check out the new pics below. [via ONTD]
Kim Jong Un's former lover had been sentenced to death in the charge of spreading pornography. In any kind of society there has always been targets to attack for maintaining a current system. Tragedies like this will be continued as long as the earth is going around."Wolf's rain"and "Sowpiercer" seem to have a common theme: Recursion in History.
I have not seen the movie yet. But it is a very attractive movie to me since it covers class struggles with nihilistic ending. The underprivileged have been struggling for a better society or for their own paradise (watch Wolf's Rain) throughout history. But in the end we found that thesis-antithesis-synthesis logic does not occur in human societies. The same type of relationship between rulers and the ruled existed during the 20th century among different social&national systems("A Problem from Hell: America and the Age of Genocide",2003).
Many people feel uncomfortable toward nihilistic ending. This kind of historical view reminds people how the existence of each life is worthless among present and past social systems. The general public may not want to bother themselves with questions such as above since they are busy with struggles right now.
Snowpiercer is premiering at the Deauville film festival (August 30th – Sept 8th).
