Interesting. Want a completely tonally different take on Spike Jonze’s “Where The Wild Things Are”?
Last week we reported that singer/actress Charlotte Gainsbourg had been cast for the French version of the film voicing the character of KW (Lauren Ambrose in the original version). Now thanks to a head’s up at our friends at Allocine, we’ve discovered that the French trailer for “Where The Wild Things Are” doesn’t feature the Arcade Fire, but instead, a brand new, and previously unheard track from Charlotte Gainsbourg’s forthcoming new record IRM called, “In The End.”
Just last week we also revealed the album cover and tracklist of IRM and “In The End” is the fourth cut that goes right before the first single, “Heaven Can Wait” which you also heard a few weeks ago. Beck produced and co-wrote much of the album which comes out January 26 via Because/Elektra in the U.S., but hits her native France on December 7 (the same day ‘Wild Things’ hits theaters in that country).
Unfortunately we can’t embed the trailer, but you can see it and get a first listen of the song here (and below). The trailer doesn’t say who the other French voices are, but you can hear them and can clearly make out Gainsbourg’s voice when KW speaks. Any Francophile care to take a guess at the other speaking roles? We have a few ideas, but are not confident to totally guess (though one voice does sound a little like André Dussollier, but we can’t say for sure). Update: We’ve heard that the only “special” guest voice in the film is Charlotte Gainsbourg and the rest of the French voices are the regular folks who normally do those voices (i.e. the guy who normally does Forest Whitaker’s voice in France — yes, there is that guy — does the voice here).
Update #2. One of our faithful readers found it on YouTube. Thanks dude! (we looked we promised)
The video won't play? I tried in Firefox and Internet Explorer, and nothing.
🙁
If you want to embed it, it's also on youtube : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vX709qm6Kag&feature=player_embedded
Thanks!
