Got a Tip?

New Eminem Music Video, Clips, Q&A And Soundtrack Listing For Jake Gyllenhaal Boxing Flick ‘Southpaw’

SouthpawIf you thought that “Demolitionbeing moved from a December release date to April 2016 earlier in the week meant that Jake Gyllenhaal was going to miss out on a chance to pick up the Oscar nomination he should have won last year for “Nightcrawler,” think again. In just a week, the actor hits theaters again with boxing drama “Southpaw,” another physical transformation that could see the on-fire star in the awards conversation again.

Directed by Antoine Fuqua, the film was initially intended to mark a return to leading-man status for Eminem, and although the rap superstar eventually bailed on starring in the film, he’s remained very much involved, executive producing the soundtrack, contributing four tracks (two as part of Bad Meets Evil, his team up with Royce Da 5’9”), and his song “Phenomenal” has scored the marketing campaign from the off.

With that in mind, and with the movie hitting theaters next Friday, he’s released a seven-minute ‘music film’ for the song on Apple Music. It’s an expensive, action-packed affair, with appearances from John Malkovich, “The Interview” star Randall Park, and Dr. Dre

That’s just one part of the promotional onslaught, however. There’s also a new clip from the movie, various TV spots, and an Academy Q&A with Fuqua, Gyllenhaal, Rachel McAdams, and young Oona Laurence. Early reviews of the film are mixed, but we’re in for Gyllenhaal alone. Take a look at the various clips and the full listing for the soundtrack, which also includes the final score by the late James Horner, below.
