Got a Tip?

New Character Posters For ‘Snowpiercer’ & ‘The World’s End’ Bring The Apocalypse

The World's EndIt seems that if you want some vision of the world coming an end, you have more than a few options at the movies this year; on Wednesday “This Is The End” comes to theaters, and numerous sci-fi blockbusters this summer (“Oblivion,” “After Earth“) have already tackled apocalyptic visions of Earth forever changed and humanity forced to leave. Some extra posters for a couple of the other flavors of big and scary end-times are here, continuing cinema’s determination to make 2013 the year it all ended.

First up, Bong Joon-ho‘s “Snowpiercer” continues to torment fans waiting for what looks to be a promising genre flick with one helluva cast. Chris Evans, Jamie Bell, John Hurt, Song Kang-ho, Alison Pill, Octavia Spencer and Ewen Bremner are all passengers on a train carrying the only survivors of a post-apocalyptic future as revolt brews in the community. The posters aren’t wildly different from the stills we’ve seen so far, and while The Weinstein Company has yet to date the movie, here’s hoping that this is all building up to at least a trailer.

Next, six (heavily Photoshopped) character one-sheets have dropped for Edgar Wright‘s “The World’s End.” The capper to the ‘Three Flavours Cornetto’ trilogy also brings a game cast — Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Paddy Considine, Eddie Marsan, Martin Freeman and Rosamund Pike — for a pub crawl that takes on life-altering dimensions. “The World’s End” opens on July 19th in the UK, and August 23rd in the US and those descriptions on each poster are actually the names of the pubs in the movie, though yes, Pike is an intrepid fox. 1. I have to agree, even though I am rooting for Pegg and Frost and co. to round it out with a bang I'm just not feeling it from the trailer and these posters. Snowpiercer is more intriguing, and what is going on with Tilda Swinton in these posters?!

  2. Whereas my anticipation for Snowpiercer continues to rise, my anticipation for World's End decreases. The trailer and these posters do not bode well. They look terrible. Although I did think Shawn of the Dead and Hot Fuzz were fun.
