Netflix Is Turning ‘Assassin’s Creed’ Into A Live-Action Series

No one seems to have cracked the code of the video game movie.  Take “Assassin’s Creed,” from Ubisoft. Even the well-meaning team of Michael Fassbender, director Justin Kurzel and an ensemble of excellent actors like Marion Cotillard, Jeremy Irons, Brendan Gleeson, Charlotte Rampling, and Michael K. Williams, couldn’t turn that adaptation into a workable film. However, while “Assassin’s Creed” failed with critics and audiences, the video game adaptation has found some success on television, right? Today, Netflix, who already has turned “The Witcher” into a successful streaming series, announced it has entered into an agreement with Ubisoft to develop content based on the international best-selling video game franchise “Assassin’s Creed.”The first series in development is slated to be an epic, genre-bending live-action adaptation; a search is currently underway for a showrunner. Ubisoft Film & Television’s Jason Altman and Danielle Kreinik will serve as Executive Producers.

“Assassin’s Creed” the movie grossed a decent $240.7 million gross worldwide, but when you include a $124 million dollar budget and an expensive theatrical marketing campaign, the film probably didn’t profit much in the end.
