Neil Young has said it once, he’ll say it again and again and again. During the film of his concert doc with his Crosby, Stills & Nash pals, “CSNY: Deja Vu,” in support of his political Living With War album, Red State fans wanted to rip him to shreds.
In fact, every time Young has ever discussed the experience of filming the documentary he sounds like he’s been eternally shellshocked. Discussing the film that comes out July 25 in limited release, Young stressed again that the political nature of the tour had fans irate and going for his jugular.
“We had some fights; everything was crazy [on tour]. They just went nuts. But they weren’t real close to us. We could see them, and they were just going berserk. But Atlanta was very forceful. I mean, they are so passionate about what they felt, and how they feel about, you know, how we crossed over the line and intruded on something that they believed in so strongly. So you gotta respect people, even if they’re losing their minds at that very moment, and not talking really eloquently.”
A trailer for the film is finally online and the firm July 25 date is pretty new info.
