Got a Tip?

Neal McDonough In Talks To Play Dum Dum Dugan In ‘Captain America’

This is kind of amusing and ironic. Earlier this year, the freakishly blonde TV actor Neal McDonagh (HBO’s “Band of Brothers” and ABC’s “Desperate Housewives”) hinted to First Showing that he could be in “Captain America: The First Avenger” and or hinted that he could be Captain America himself.

We had to laugh at that one. There’s no way he was going to get that role and of course Chris Evans has already been cast, but perhaps McDonagh is having the last laugh as he’s now in talks to appear in the film as Dum Dum Dugan, one of the S.H.I.E.L.D agents part of Nick Fury’s (Samuel L. Jackson) Howling Commandos group according to Deadline.

Maybe Marvel was listening to his plea campaigning and decided to throw him a role. The character is known for his marksmanship with rifles and for his impressive physique and is recognized for his trademark bowler hat according to Wiki, awesome.

Other members of the Commandos who could appear in the film, and therefore could find a few more name actors in roles, include Corporal Thaddeus Aloysius Cadwallander, Private Gabriel Jones, Private Robert “Rebel” Ralston, Private Dino Manelli, Private Isadore “Izzy” Cohen, Private Jonathan “Junior” Juniper, or members from the updated 2005 series, including Clay Quartermain, Nina Price, N’Kantu The Living Mummy, Gorilla-Man and John Doe, but this later group has nothing to do with the Marvel Ultimates line where the new Captain America suit comes from so who knows. We won’t think to pretend we’re experts this deep in this series.

The film starts shooting in July over in the U.K., co-stars Tommy Lee Jones, Hayley Atwell, Samuel L. Jackson, Hugo Weaving, Sebastian Stan, Toby Jones and is scheduled for release July 22, 2011.
