Naomi Watts is not only looking like the new, slightly younger looking version of Nicole Kidman, now the Aussie actress is taking her bff’s roles. Doug Liman’s drama about out CIA Agent, Valerie Plame Wilson, now titled, “Fair Game,” was to set Kidman, early last year, but now it looks like Watts has stepped into the role instead according to Variety.
The missing ingredient is Sean Penn who is in negotiations to play Ambassador Joseph Wilson, Plame’s husband since 1998. The project was put in turnaround by Warner Bros. (uh oh!), but was rescued by River Road productions who have already worked with Penn on Terrence Malick’s “Tree Of Life.”
This isn’t the firs time Plame-gate has been the basis of a story. Last year’s “Nothing But The Truth” by Rod Lurie use the Valerie Plame story as a launching pad for its own film about similar injustices and bent moralities. However the Yari Film group went bankrupt in December and almost no one saw ‘Truth’ (did it even get a proper release??) or their other late 2008 film, “What Doesn’t Kill You.”
Wilson wrote op-ed columns that accused the Bush Administration of manipulating intelligence about weapons of mass destruction to justify the invasion of Iraq (some info of which he essentially learned from his wife). The Bush/Rove administration basically outed her as payback for the article. You should be fully aware of Plame affair if you’re a living breathing, caring American citizen who believes in any kind of civil liberties, but if not, go here to read more you ignorant bastard. PS, Production Weekly says filming will being March 21.
Wilson inadvertently compromised his wife’s CIA status
Um…no.
Wilson was doing his duty and telling the truth. Plame’s covert CIA status was compromised by Karl Rove’s office and Robert Novak.
You need to correct this.
Hmm, yes, well that’s basically what i’m saying, but yes, i adjusted. more to your liking?
i was sayin his reporting inadvertently outed her cause rove/novak obviously saw it payback to their family.
I know it won’t, but wouldn’t it be interesting if the film took this tone:

I think this is a serious, relevant issue, but no one, including myself, wants to see this movie.
Yeah, this is the kind of thing that is done zero favors but making a movie of it. If you want to tackle the issues make it a documentary instead.
Agree with the abovers. Who’s the audience for this? All signs point to people wanting to move on from anything involving the Bush admin. People didn’t even want to see stuff about the Bush administration when they WERE the administration. This kind of thing needs 25 years or so to gestate…it’s not quite All the President’s Men.
Thank god nicole pulled out of this one. It smells like a box office tanker waiting to happen. Sean Penn has done too many of these types of roles. Nic has been making good film choices lately!!!
