Remember the funk-metal late-80s/early ’90s band Extreme that got a little soft and sensitive with the hit single, “More Than Words (prolly on some KTel compilation somewhere)?
Remember their talented lead axeman, Nuno Bettencourt? Where has he been? Well, aside from many under-the-radar-projects, he joined Perry Farrell’s hilarious doofus hippie band, “Satellite Party,” and unfortunately worked with douche-freakshow magician, Criss Angel, but these days he’s gotten into film scoring (what former musician with nothing better to do hasn’t these days?).
Bettencourt wrote the strummy acoustic original music to the upcoming Miramax comedy/Sundance hit, “Smart People” (which stars Ellen Page, Sarah Jessica Parker and Thomas Haden Church as a random group of friends and family that come to the aid of Dennis Quaid – a recently widowed professor dealing with the after-effects of a concussion).
The digital-only soundtrack release comes out April 11 via Miramax/Hollywood records and features, Bettencourt’s original tunes (with vocals too), newly-reformed ’90s Australian hard-rock band Baby Animals (fronted by his wife Suze DeMarchi), and former Extreme bassist Paul Mangone.
Contest closed. We’re giving away three free copies of the soundtrack to those that are curious. All you have to do is be the first three to email us. The trailer features “Don’t Make Me a Target” by Spoon (quite possibly the most overused indie-band being recycled in film trailers today, blame it on “Stranger Than Fiction“) and Paul Westerberg’s “Dyslexic Heart” (which was originally written for Cameron Crowe’s “Singles.”), but don’t look for either of those on the soundtrack.

In the film “Smart People” there is a song with lyrics “..love don’t live here anymore..”.Could you tell me which is that song and who is its singer.
It sounds like a different version of “Need I Say More,” which is on the soundtrack. The singer is possibly Suze DeMarchi.
great songs,,really really remarkable sound tracks,,
