Got a Tip?

‘Moon Knight’ Featurette Describes Show’s Tone As “Fight Club Meets Indiana Jones”

The hype for “Moon Knight” is real. Not only is this just the latest Marvel Studios TV project to arrive on Disney+, but it’s the first one of 2022 and features perhaps the biggest acting name to grace a Marvel TV project yet, Oscar Isaac. Add to this the excitement about a brand-new character with unique powers and origin, and you get something that superhero fans are psyched about. That said, it’s hard to figure out just what “Moon Knight’s” tone is going to be like. Will it be super dark? Is it going to be quippy like MCU projects typically are?

Well, according to a new behind-the-scenes featurette released by USA Today, actor May Calamawy has a description of the tone that might help to shed some light on those questions. Apparently, according to her, the tone is “‘Fight Club’ meets ‘Indiana Jones.’” Take that for what it’s worth.

Obviously, the “Fight Club” reference has to do with the Disassociative Identity Disorder that is affecting the lead character Marc Spector (Isaac). He is suffering from an illness that shows itself as multiple personalities. The “Indiana Jones” allusion has to be in reference to the idea that this series has ties to ancient Egyptian artifacts and whatnot. So, in that respect, this all checks out.

Does that mean we’ll have some seriously dark humor a la “Fight Club” mixed with a dash of fun adventuring a la “Indiana Jones?” We’ll have to wait and see. Thankfully, we won’t have to wait too long, as “Moon Knight” is set to arrive on Disney+ on March 30.
