Got a Tip?

‘Mindhunter’ Season 2 Coming In August According To Producer Charlize Theron

Mindhunter” is a great example of a series that landed on Netflix, seemed to have a fair amount of buzz (y’know, with David Fincher involved and all), but was quickly overshadowed by the next streaming flavor of the week. However, if you missed the series when it was released, make sure you give some time to the serial killer drama, as it provides a fresh take on the true crime drama. Plus, the second season is around the corner, which means now’s the perfect time to revisit the series.

While Netflix is notorious for not announcing release dates for content until a few weeks before, we thankfully have “Mindhunter” producer Charlize Theron available for assistance. And during an interview with Howard Stern, the “Long Shot” actress revealed that the long-awaited Season 2 is now preparing for an August release on the streaming service.

If you didn’t watch the first season, “Mindhunter” tells the story of the early days of the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit, as a couple of agents lay the foundation for what would become the standard for tracking serial killer activity. Instead of relying on gory and stereotypical serial killer tropes, the series felt much more in line with “Silence of the Lambs,” where the agents investigate the mind of the killers and attempt to figure out what makes them tick, which helps with apprehending the murderers.

The second season of “Mindhunter” has been in production for a while now, with a great line-up of directors assigned. The series’ second outing is said to focus on the Atlanta child murders of the late-‘70s and early-‘80s. What makes this case so interesting is the fact that the killer was revealed to be a rare African American serial killer, who ended up going to jail for unrelated crimes. Stars Jonathan Groff, Holt McCallany, and Anna Torv will all return.

While the date is yet to be officially announced, we can safely mark August down as an exciting month for TV, with the return of “Mindhunter.”
