It looks like the old dudes of “The Expendables” are going to get an energetic boost of estrogen to add to their ranks when they grease up their joints for yet another bland action outing. And it’s someone who has more than her fair share of experience kicking ass.
Milla Jovovich is in advanced negotiations along with the long rumored and talked about Jackie Chan, Wesley Snipes and Nicolas Cage for “The Expendables 3.” Of course, Jovovich has her own mega successful franchise with “Resident Evil,” and will more than hold her own along these dudes when it comes to jumping off things, shooting stuff and running away from explosions. And her insurance probably doesn’t cost as much. And it’s a savvy move, opening up the potential audience for his even further, given the actress’ appeal overseas as well. So smart play, Stallone.
Meanwhile, the rest of the cast is your standard roster of Olds, though perhaps the recently released Snipes and Cage — jesus, the two of them on the same set together? — will bring some unpredictability this series needs. Or perhaps it will just be another 1980s homage that doesn’t realize most of those action movies from the era were awful then and are still awful now.
Production gets underway later this summer and you’ll see it in theaters next year.

BillyOne, I agree. I even heard they wanted Jennifer Lawrence or something. It doesn\’t make sense. As for Jovovich, you\’re right, she\’s still doing Resident Evil films, which are making good money. And she\’s in her 30\’s. Why would she are her image prematurely by being in a film with washed up male stars who are in their 70\’s. I agree that Cynthia Rothrock would be perfect for this because she\’s more on their level. Or Pam Greer. Jovovich needs to try to stay relevant, not align herself with older men who are washed up.
Spoon, sorry to burst your bubble but the Expendables is a retirement home for old actors. Jovovich is still out there making actual hits. Stallone "and the boys" are not.
Not sure if Jovovich is really an asset. The first Resident Evil movie was okay, the rest and the Three Musketeers were garbage. As long as her husband stays away, I don't think it'll be a bad thing though. I enjoyed the Expendables films for what they are, I never expected anything but things blowing up and people kicking ass 🙂

I thought these movies are for actors whose acting careers dried up. Milla is still cranking out those Resident Evil movies. If the producers need a female action star, they should get Pam Grier, Sigourney Weaver or Cynthia Rothrock.
Die Hard and Predator and Road Warrior are some of the greatest films of all time, fuck you Jagernauth, you condescending jackass. The Expendables movies are awful because they're shitty modern incoherent post-action movies in boring eastern europe locations and nothing like actual 80s action movies and do nothing interesting with their concept. They just take a bunch of old icons and have them stand around and go "remember all the good movies we were in." But this basic understanding of action movies would require you to put down the black and white swedish existentialist shit occassionally and broaden your horizons.
