While attending the Savannah Film Festival, Fandango talked to Miles Teller, star of this year’s wonderful teen romance “The Spectacular Now” (and also the odious college comedy “21 and Over“), about what he’s got coming up next. Teller also stars in next year’s high profile YA adaptation “Divergent,” whose sequel is set to begin shooting imminently. But what about that other hot property Teller has been attached to? You know, the one with the Invisible Woman and The Thing…
When asked about what was next, Teller told Fandango: “Right now I’m kind of hanging out. I don’t have anything that I’m doing until probably January or February. I don’t know 100%. Obviously ‘Insurgent,’ the next ‘Divergent’ film … I think they are going to start the second one in April.” When Fandango pressed about his involvement in the “Fantastic Four,” since Teller is supposedly amongst the short list that also includes Michael B. Jordan and Jack O’Connell, the actor got cagier. “Uh, you know, I don’t know,” Teller told Fandango. “If that happens, if everything works out, then I will be pretty pumped. But then I’ll also be working for … it’s like seven months out of your year. Which is not a bad problem.”
In other words: the sequel for “Divergent” (which stars Shailene Woodley, Theo James and Kate Winslet) could get in the way of his commitments to Josh Trank‘s buzzed-about “Fantastic Four” reboot. Still, we’re sure that the teams of people behind both movies would probably accommodate each other, should Teller be cast.
“Divergent” opens on March 21st, 2014.
