In January, the L.A. Times reported that Seth Rogen had enlisted “Funny People” costar Adam Sandler for a cameo in his and Michel Gondry’s “Green Hornet” movie.
Many people, including us, speculated the role could be The Lone Ranger. “The Hornet’s alter ego Britt Reid had been revealed as a great nephew of the Ranger in the original radio show, so it makes sense that he’d be the superhero in question,” we wrote.
However, there could be legal complications there. Disney announced a ‘Lone Ranger’ movie with Johnny Depp late last year.
In an MTV interview, Gondry acknowledged the picture’s existence and said he had his own workaround in mind. “Yeah, yeah, I know that,” the filmmaker said of the Jerry Bruckheimer-produced ‘Ranger’ film and said he still wanted to keep the Hornet/Ranger link alive. “I’m all for making such references.”
“I’ve suggested that in a cemetery [scene] we would see the horse of the Lone Ranger,” Gondry explained, claiming the gravestone would mark the Ranger’s final resting place. “I think there is a right situation to deal with it.”
Wait, so if the Ranger is dead, that means Sander’s cameo would probably have to be another character, no? The plot thickens…
Maybe the Lone Ranger’s horse will be made out of yarn.

Would much rather see the Bruckheimer flick than the Rogen flick.
I guess we have a while to wait for that… until then, the Tokyo! DVD comes out June 30 (www.tokyothemovie.com). I didn’t think Gondy’s was the best of the three, that went to Carax’s Merde, but it was still amazing.
