Michael Madsen Talks Unmade Vega Brothers Film & Creates ‘Reservoir Dogs’ Tribute With His Family

Quentin Tarantino is an idea guy, at his core. The filmmaker has only a relatively small number of feature films under his belt over the course of the past three decades, but he has enough ideas for projects that could film 20 more movies. And one of those ideas that have been discussed previously but never made is the film that would unite Vic and Vincent Vega (Michael Madsen and John Travolta, respectively) in a “Reservoir Dogs”/“Pulp Fiction” spin-off.

And in a new THR interview, one half of the brothers, Madsen, opened up about the idea of the film that will never see the light of day. And though he doesn’t give a ton of new details, he does show how the film could have tied into the stories of both previous films.

“We were supposed to be in Amsterdam, criminally,” Madsen said. “The picture was going to start out with the two of us being released from prison in different states. And we open up a club in Amsterdam.”

He added, “[Tarantino] had come up with this idea that it would be the twin brothers of Vic and Vincent, who met after the deaths of their siblings. It was very complicated, but when Quentin starts discussing an idea, it’s very easy to go along with it.”

Unfortunately, as we know now, the project is likely never going to be made. However, Tarantino has discussed it quite a bit before, so fans can probably piece together the general idea.

As for a film that Tarantino did get made, the iconic “Reservoir Dogs,” Madsen decided to honor the project during his family’s lockdown in a bit of a silly, fun way. With the help of his family, he used his smartphone camera to film a video featuring the famous song from the film and some bloody ears.

“I was bored out of my mind, basically,” he said. “It was my wife who said it would be funny to do a kooky type of ‘Reservoir Dogs.’ It was very funny, I am surprised we pulled it off.”
