Got a Tip?

Michael Giacchino Will Score ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’

Does Michael Giacchino sleep? The Oscar winning composer of “Up” only seems to get busier these days. This year alone he’s delivered scores for “Zootopia” and “Star Trek Beyond,” powered this weekend’s “Doctor Strange,” and scheduled in a last minute gig with “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story,” replacing Alexandre Desplat. Next year, he’s already got “War For The Planet Of The Apes” on his schedule and now he’s lining up another big Marvel movie.

The composer has confirmed on Twitter the chatter that has been going around over the weekend: he’ll be scoring “Spider-Man: Homecoming.” The news first popped up on Reddit when an attendee at USC noted that at a screening last week at the school for “Doctor Strange,” Kevin Feige (an alumnus) mentioned during a Q&A that Giacchino got the ‘Spider-Man’ gig and added, “We announced that right? I really hope we announced that.”

Well, the cat is now officially out of the bag, and there’s one more reason to look forward to ‘Homecoming.’ Giacchino is great at bringing a sense of playfulness into his scores, and he’s a great fit for the film.

“Spider-Man: Homecoming” opens on July 7, 2017.

  1. Been a fan of his for the last 15 years……I have and covet the first 3 soundtracks on CD he did for the Medal of Honor video game franchise under Steven Spielberg. It added so much quality to the game experience. Its so great he’s getting the work he deserves.
