How do you like your summer served up? Perhaps you dig the indie films that offer a nice alternative to Hollywood’s seasonal explosion fest? Or maybe you don’t mind a piece of greasy, buttered entertainment. Well, release dates have been set for movies that tickle either fancy.
First up, Sundance breakout “Frank,” starring Michael Fassbender, will arrive at the tail end of summer on August 22nd. The movie, which we called a “terrific and sublime experience,” charts the journey of a bunch of rock ‘n roll misfits as they escape to the country to write an album. But that’s not really selling this thing effectively, with the unique film striking an original comedic and musical chord, featuring a slew of terrific turns from folks like Domhnall Gleeson, Maggie Gyllenhaal and more. Basically, you’ll want to mark your calendar and keep your eyes peeled for this one.
Meanwhile, next summer brings yet another Adam Sandler joint, this time the nostalgia trip, “Pixels.” Co-starring Kevin James, Michelle Monaghan, Josh Gad and Peter Dinklage, the movie will follow a bunch of old school gamers who are hired by the government to stop an attack from… wait for it… classic video game characters. We’re sure there will be lots of Kevin James falling down and Adam Sandler farting and belching. If you must, THR reports you can see it on May 15, 2015.
Very good news about Frank. I'm really looking forward to that one.
