Sri Lankan rapper M.I.A. just had a baby boy over the weekend, mazel tov! But wait, does that mean she won’t be performing her “Slumdog Millionaire” song, “O…Saya” with composer A.R. Rahman? Would seem so, no?
Not so fast. With Peter Gabriel just having dropped out of his “Wall-E” Oscar performance, the Academy Award show producers are just a little bit desperate. Oscar producer Laurence Mark will haul out a bed for her if he has to.
“She’s eager to perform … we’ve said things like ‘we’re willing to have her enter on a large bed,'” Mark is reported to have told the WENN network. “We’ll make it as easy for her as we can.”
M.I.A. singing ‘Slumdog’ songs while convalescing in bed? Eat your heart out, Peter Gabriel. Man, the Oscars are totally wet, wild and unpredictable this year. [Guardian/Idolator]
You know what would be really great? If they would let her (and the other nominees) perform the three entire freaking songs. Why would she want to go to so much trouble to perform for 65 seconds?
And this success of Slumdog by winning 8 out of 10 nomination and beaten by itself in one out of two remaining (2 songs “Jai ho” and “O saya” are nominated for best song) is just an achievement of decades of toil and brilliant work which each individual has shown in there respective field and ultimately rewarded tonight.http://controversial-affairs.blogspot.com/2009/02/8-oscars-to-slumdog-millionaire.html
