Variety reports that Sam Mendes has signed on to produce the U.S. adaption of “Lost in Austen,” a BBC series loosely based on the Lost In Austen choose your own adventure book that utilize the CYOA format and original text from all of Jane Austen’s novels. The BBC show was more reigned in, focusing entirely on a mixed up version of “Pride & Prejudice” where a contemporary woman finds herself trading places with Elizabeth Bennett and falling into an absurdist comedy of manners set in the world of Georgian England.
The TV series aired this January on the Ovation channel in the U.S. and is set for DVD release in April.
