By now you’ve probably seen the cover of Entertainment Weekly that has “Transformers” actress Megan Fox on the cover. Some are probably just simply drooling or perhaps taken aback by her brassy cojones, but what strikes out at us the most are her pretty candid comments at director Michael Bay. Fox doesn’t mince words and while she might not be dissing the red-blooded, Alpha-Male filmmaker or fully putting him on blast, she;s self-aware enough to recognize what he makes is nothing more than fluffy, popcorn cinema. This question speaks for itself.
EW: What percentage of your range have people seen so far?
Fox: Seven percent. On the new one [‘Transformers 2’], I tried. But unless you’re a seasoned veteran, working with Michael Bay is not about an acting experience.
When asked about participating in a threequel to the upcoming “Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen,” she doesn’t say sound convincing in her, “sure” response, and sort of skates around the question in apologist form. “Sure. I mean, I can’t shit on this movie because it did give me a career and open all these doors for me. But I don’t want to blow smoke up people’s ass. People are well aware that this is not a movie about acting. And once you realize that, it becomes almost fun because you can be in the moment and go, ‘All right, I know that when he calls Action! I’m either going to be running or screaming, or both.’ “
Last but not least she sounds she wants to move on. “If I’m still making Transformers five years from now, I might not be so überexcited. But there’s nothing specific that I need to accomplish. I just want to still be working.” Maybe she’s just being super candid as even Michael Bay fans would probably agree with her on every point, but you still can’t help but notice the comments as being a little eye-opening considering how public and loud they are in print. Update: Even more from the bonus interview parts.
EW: People say Michael Bay is more interested in explosions and special effects than his actors. True?
Fox: That’s true. He thinks it’s funny to put his actors through Navy Seal boot camp to make a movie. And it’s not even necessary for the job! It amuses him.
haha awesome!
really love this blog, great job.
Hmm.. I think she does know exactly where she's going, all hollywood actors want the same thing.
Action movie: box office clout
Oscar bait movie/role in the fall: Golden globe nom
Another action movie: more box office clout
Romantic comedy: more box office clout
Another oscar bait movie/role: (if she really makes herself super ugly, or takes on a biopic, or gets a lead in a Clint Eastwood film) Oscar Nom. SCORE!
Same old, same old.
However, the honesty is indeed refreshing.
I completely agree with her. Just because megan fox is good looking doesnt mean she cant act. Michael Bay created a piece of shit and everyone knows the movie is clearly not about acting. Megan Fox actually surprised me by saying this out loud, thats a good thing. I'm willing to see what she's got
why is she even making a stupid comment, can she even act???
