I guess it’s now time for us to witness the James Franco comeback. After a few years away from the public eye, thanks to some sexual misconduct allegations stemming from his time as a teacher at an acting school, Franco has found his next gig in the upcoming drama, “Me, You.”
According to THR, James Franco has signed on to star alongside Tom Hollander and Daisy Jacob in the upcoming film, “Me, You.” Adapted from the novel, “Tu, Mia,” by author Erri De Luca, the new film follows the story of a young teen in the 1950s who sails alongside a “hardened fisherman” (played by Franco) and eventually becomes entranced by a young woman (Jacob). “Me, You” is directed by Bille August, who is best known for his acclaimed films, “ Pelle the Conqueror” and “The Best Intentions.”
As mentioned, it’s been a while since Franco signed on for a new acting gig. In recent years, we’ve seen him show up in HBO’s series, “The Deuce,” as well as films such as “Zeroville” and “Arctic Dogs,” but those projects were filmed prior to his aforementioned sexual misconduct allegations. Since then, he’s been keeping quiet as his friends and former colleagues distance themselves from the actor. Folks like Seth Rogen have been vocal about not remaining friends with Franco after the accusations were made.

Recently, Franco has spoken out about the allegations, apologizing for his misdeeds. However, it seems as if that was just Step 1 in his eventual comeback. We’ll have to see if Hollywood is ready to welcome the actor back into the fold or if he’s going to join the likes of Johnny Depp and Kevin Spacey, who are relegated to working outside of the studio system to find gigs.
No release date has been set for “Me, You.”
