It has arrived. The trailer for “X-Men: First Class” has landed (finally) and as expected, it takes us back to the beginnings of the superheroes charting the origins of Charles Xavier (James McAvoy) and Magneto (Michael Fassbender) as they discover their powers and find their friendship tested.
Thankfully, director Matthew Vaughn has not followed suit with every other comic trailer for that goes hard with effects and explosions, but instead, this one arrives with a quieter tenor, one that quickly establishes the mounting tensions between Charles Xavier and Magneto. Fassbender in particular looks like he’s owning the entire picture but overall, the wait has been worth it. The trailer is a great tease — it introduces us into the world of the fledgling X-Men and gives us enough to be satisfied, but also leaves a lot of questions open and has us wanting more. Great job to Vaughn and co. for making a truly unique, standout spot for the film. We had our doubts, but so far, the film has taken a bold step in the right direction.
“X-Men: First Class” stars Fassbender, McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique), Rose Byrne (Moira MacTaggert), January Jones (Emma Frost), Oliver Platt (Man In Black), Caleb Landry (Banshee), Lucas Till (Havoc), Edi Gathegi (Darwin), Jason Flemyng (Azazel), Zoe Kravitz (Angel) and Kevin Bacon as the evil Sebastian Shaw. The film hits June 3rd.
I am shocked by how not bad this looks.
Why one can\’t say out loud \”I hate it\”. Two years ago, I once said: \”I hate X-Man\”. Here I am, willing to watch X-Man, by my own free will! Dammit!
Looks like shit, but for the record I didn\’t like any of the X-Mens or Spider Mans.
Yeah it feels like \”The Michael Fassbender movie.\”
It looks really good. 🙂
Fassbender is like nine years younger than Daniel Craig. I love Craig as Bond. Probably Bond 1B below Connery\’s 1A, but Fassbender would be a killer pick to be the next Bond in six or seven years after Craig gets tired of the role.
Looks great.
Anyone know the song being used?
Don\’t forget Nicholas Hault as Hank McCoy aka Beast. Great teaser. Bravo!
I got Wolverine flashbacks and douche-chills.
Teal. And orange.
So much teal and orange.
What I\’m wondering is: why are James McAvoy and one of the kids carrying a sex doll, into what I can only assume is some kind of dungeon, at 0:49?…
Yeah, that looks pretty good. I wasn\’t bothered about any more X-Men films, but this looks okay.
This looks really good. I\’m interested.
Fassbender is the man, def steals it… CGI looks iffy in some spots, but of course that should be improved by the release… they really turned this film around quickly it seems.
I like.
But this looks like a one-man show: Michael Fassbender.
