Got a Tip?

Matthew McConaughey To Drink ‘The Billionaire’s Vinegar’

Matthew McConaughey The Billionaire’s VinegarWith an Oscar on his shelf, having recently played a financial world mogul in "The Wolf Of Wall Street," not to mention his status as Hollywood’s comeback kid golden boy, Matthew McConaughey knows a thing or two about glamor, and so taking on the role of a guy who spends way too much money on a bottle of wine, should be hand in glove.

Deadline reports that McConaughey is attached to star in "The Billionaire’s Vinegar." Based on the non-fiction book by Benjamin Wallace, with a script from Michael Brandt and Derek Haas ("Wanted," "3:10 To Yuma," "Chicago Fire"), the film tells the true story of a very wealthy man who spends a half-million on what is supposedly the most vintage of all wines, only to dig deeper and discover he may have been duped. Here’s the book synopsis:

The Billionaire’s Vinegar, tells the true story of a 1787 Château Lafite Bordeaux — supposedly owned by Thomas Jefferson — that sold for $156,000 at auction. Was it truly entombed in a Paris cellar for two hundred years? Or did it come from a secret Nazi bunker? Or from the moldy basement of a devilishly brilliant con artist? As Benjamin Wallace unravels the mystery, we meet a gallery of intriguing players — from the bicycle-riding British auctioneer who speaks of wines as if they are women, to the obsessive wine collector who discovered the bottle. Suspenseful and thrillingly strange, this is the vintage tale of what could be the most elaborate con since the Hitler diaries.

This will be coming from the producing team behind "The Pursuit Of Happyness" and "Seven Pounds," so take that for whatever it’s worth. A movie about the inside world of wine collecting doesn’t sound like the most invigorating of dramas, but then again, neither did a movie about baseball statistics, and look at how "Moneyball" turned out. No director is linked yet, but with McConaughey as the lead, some big names will probably circle.

I believe it was Leonardo Di Caprio who played the lead on The Wolf Of Wall Street and I believe Mathew McConaughey won the Oscar for The Dallas Buyers Club .

  2. Three Kevin news posts in a row and the one that he thinks is a great idea is a remake of a Swedish film from last year? Underground wine mystery, and Gyllenhaal boxing, both sound waaaaay better than a remake with an American actor.
