Yeah, we know, offer stories are kind of the worst in some ways, but considering that Christopher Nolan keeps everything inside a vault inside his own mind (see what we did there?) any morsel regarding his projects is one we’ll take a bite of, so here we are. And here you are, too. Onward…
Deadline reports that according to their intel, Matthew McConaughey has been offered the lead role in Christopher Nolan‘s upcoming “Interstellar.” Well, all right all right all right. The part is for a character named Cooper and that’s all the details there are, because that’s how Nolan rolls. But what we do know thus far is that the project originated from an old script from his longtime collaborator and brother Jonathan Nolan and it will deal with time travel and alternate dimensions, telling the story of a group of explorers who go through a wormhole. Nolan is using that old script, combining it with an original idea of his own, and giving it a rewrite, so basically it should fry our brain.
If McConaughey signs on (and lord, that would be awesome) it will continue his recent run of work with various auteurs including Steven Soderbergh, William Friedkin, Richard Linklater, Jeff Nichols and more. While it used to be that the actor was best known for taking his shirt off, it now seems that quality helmers are becoming this trademark. And we have no problem with that. So we’ll see how this goes.
“Interstellar” will hit theaters on November 7, 2014.

Interesting choice. He was good in Contact and this sounds like it could be somewhat similar.
Did he switch his agent a couple of years ago? If so, that man needs a raise.
Matthew looks like a good choice, I though the lead was going to Bale or DiCaprio or even Pitt (since he surprisingly turned down Fincher's 20.000's Leagues Under the Sea !!! ) …but MCConaughey has shown last year that he is a top-class actor (Killer Joe, Mud, Bernie, Magic Mike) and surely deserves this part if he signs on, and hey don't forget that he currently finished "The Wolf of Wall Street" with Marty Scorsese.
As long as Tom Hardy is in this too, I'm fine with McConaughey.
Nice! Ever since Killer Joe, I cannot look at that guy like I did before. He has some serious acting chops. I hope that, if he gets is, the role has a bit of an edge to it, that is not all-heroic.
OMG please not him! There are countless other actors better for Nolan. I will NOT go see Interstellar if he is the lead & neither will a lot of people I know.
This would be a nice win-win.
