Never say never. While Paul Greengrass and Matt Damon long resisted the idea of doing another Bourne outing following "The Bourne Ultimatum," the duo never completely ruled it out, always saying that if the right idea came along, they’d entertain the notion of returning to the franchise. And with a release date set for next summer of the still untitled "Bourne 5," Matt Damon has shared with Buzzfeed what sparked the blockbuster reunion.

“Without giving too much of it away, it’s Bourne through an austerity-riddled Europe and in a post-Snowden world,” he explained about the new film. “It seems like enough has changed, you know? There are all these kinds of arguments about spying and civil liberties and the nature of democracy.”
Teasing that the film will kick off in Greece (which is going through economic turmoil) with a finale in Las Vegas (which is a pretty good symbol of capitalism at its most garish), ‘Bourne 5′ could be the most political entry in the series yet. And one has to wonder if the Snowden influence means that Jason Bourne will go from being a target to a whistleblower himself. That said, the franchise has always done a good job of balancing its thematic concerns with good ol’ fashioned popcorn entertainment, so let’s hope they still get the formula right.
‘Bourne 5’ opens on July 29, 2016 and production starts next week.
FYI: The first and "original" person to play Bourne was not Damon, but Richard Chamberlain in the 1988 tv-film The Bourne Identity.

I love all the Bourne movies & yes the Human world is either going to start \’getting along\’ w/each other or End each other, probably in my lifetime, I\’ll be 50 in November! Now, does the USA have a \’Bourne\’ or a \’Bond\’?? if there are Humans out there that CAN Stop the evils going on, Why have they NOT Done So??? just tired of waiting for the Next \’shoe\’ to drop!!?! does anyone else feel like we are on \’borrowed\’ time? A Las Vegas finale sounds awesome
It could also be they were waiting to get an A team back in charge at Universal. Love the trilogy, this could return to being a significant franchise, but will have to overcome the very poor last film. With it\’s reliance on images of Damon in the marketing, people will be understandably confused. They\’ll be wary of another bait and switch. Damon needs to be up in front with the marketing.
