Got a Tip?

Matt Damon Eyes Crime Spree Pic ‘Father Daughter Time’ For Possible Directorial Debut

Matt Damon has made no secret that he’s eager to take his turn behind the camera like his good pal Ben Affleck, but with all the opportunities that have come his way to work with top tier filmmakers and on exciting, unique projects, he hasn’t quite found that time. But he’s going to put all that experience working with people like Steven Soderbergh, Paul Greengrass, Francis Ford Coppla, Gus Van Sant, The Coen Brothers, Clint Eastwood and Cameron Crowe to good use as it seems he’s finally found a project with which to make his directorial debut.

Deadline reports that Warner Bros. has walked away victorious from a heated bidding war for the lugubriously titled spec script “Father Daughter Time: A Tale of Armed Robbery and Eskimo Kisses” and have Matt Damon attached to star and possibly direct. Written by Matthew Aldrich (“Cleaner“) the exciting premise — as the title suggests — centers “on a man who goes on the lam with his daughter, his accomplice on a three-state crime spree.”

Of course, this is all pretty early and it’s not likely Damon will get to this anytime soon. He’s going to be busy most of the rest of year on Neill Blomkamp‘s “Elysium” and next summer he’ll reteam with Steven Soderbergh for “Liberace.” The script and project will need to be developed and Damon is not the guy to rush into anything so we don’t see him trying to crank out his directorial debut between two movies. But definitely some exciting news, and given Damon’s taste for scripts, this will be one to keep an eye on.
