Got a Tip?

Marvel Studios’ Nate Moore Says ‘Loki’ Is A Show That Can Span Multiple Seasons & Isn’t A “One-Off”

This week marks the release of the final episode of “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier,” and with it, the end of two full seasons of Marvel Studios TV on Disney+. And with this ending, people are already asking about the possibility of more seasons. While producer Nate Moore isn’t ready to commit to another ‘Falcon’ show, he’s more optimistic about the show returning than he is about the other Marvel Studios series, “WandaVision.”

Speaking to Indiewire, Moore talked about what makes the idea of more “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” possible, and why the same could be said about “Loki” and not “WandaVision.” Though, if ‘Falcon’ returns, it might not be the exact same as what we’ve seen this year.

“We’ve definitely kicked around ideas because we always like to keep thinking about where things can go, but we also, frankly, in the crush of the pandemic, we’re just trying to finish the show and make sure it got out in a timely matter,” Moore said. “Hopefully at the end of this season, you will see the potential for what we could tell in a subsequent season.”

We won’t get into spoilers for “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” right now, but if you saw the very, very end of the last episode, you know that Marvel is teasing a new status quo for one of the stars. And if that actually happens, then maybe we won’t get another season of ‘Falcon,’ but instead, perhaps it’ll get a title change for the next batch of episodes? The same can’t be said about “WandaVision,” however.

He added, “[‘WandaVision’] is such a complete arc of what that character can do and what that story wanted to do, whereas ‘Falcon and Winter Soldier’ is really about dealing with, to me, the legacy of what a superhero is, through the lens of Captain America and his shield, but ultimately through the lens of all these different characters. And that’s a story I think you can revisit in subsequent seasons because it’s an evergreen story. It’s a conversation.”

Okay, so there’s a possibility of more ‘Falcon’ in the future, but no more “WandaVision.” So, what about the reports of Marvel Studios already planning a second season of “Loki?” That show hasn’t even premiered yet, but it’s being reported that the writer of Season 1 is coming back.

“The one that comes to mind — and that probably isn’t a secret — I think there’s a lot of storytelling in ‘Loki’ that’s really irreverent and clever and cool, but also lends itself to multiple seasons in a way where it’s not a one-off,” Moore said. “Tom Hiddleston, I think, is doing some of his best work on that show. It really is kind of amazing. I think of all the great stuff he’s done, but this show is going to show such different sides and really the true scope of his range. I think that show is going to surprise a lot of people.”

It would appear that Marvel Studios folks are still going to be coy about more seasons of ‘Falcon,’ but at least we’re getting semi-confirmations about Season 2 of “Loki,” right? That’s progress! “Loki” Season 1 arrives on Disney+ on June 11.
