Got a Tip?

Marvel Studios Formerly Announces ‘Echo’ & ‘Agatha’ Series While Teasing More Live-Action Disney+ Series For 2022

Say what you will about “Eternals.” Depending on which side of the discourse you fall on (because, as we know, there are always only two sides), the film is either a nice change of pace for Marvel Studios, showing a more mature, emotional story, or it’s the worst catastrophe in the MCU since “Thor: The Dark World” and Chloe Zhao is clearly a terrible filmmaker. (Obviously, we’re being hyperbolic and silly.) Regardless, “Eternals” has dampened the excitement surrounding Marvel Studios for the first time in a while. But Disney+ Day might be the shot in the arm fans needed to keep that Marvel Studios love flowing.

In celebration of the second birthday of the streaming service, Disney+ Day included a massive 14-minute video showcasing everything Marvel Studios has released so far on the platform, with a ton of teases of what’s to come over the next year or so. And unlike the “Star Wars” franchise, Marvel Studios isn’t afraid to show clips and teases for shows that are in the pipeline but are still months away.

We have already covered the teasers that were released for shows like “Hawkeye,” “Ms. Marvel,” “Moon Knight,” and “She-Hulk,” which all showed footage from their respective runs. However, Marvel Studios went ahead and formally announced previously-reported shows like “Echo” and “Agatha: House of Harkness,” and once again teased the imminent filming of series such as “Armor Wars,” “Secret Invasion,” and “Iron Heart.” All told, when you take out the series with footage shown, you still had five series that were teased as coming soon.

Many of these have already been confirmed by Marvel Studios. However, the newest additions are “Echo” and “Agatha.” The latter is a spinoff of the Emmy-nominated series, “WandaVision,” following Kathryn Hahn’s evil witch, Agatha Harkness. The former, “Echo,” is a spinoff of the upcoming “Hawkeye” series, focusing on the story of Echo, a young woman who is able to mimic the movements of anyone she watches. The character has a rich history in the comics, but it’s unclear how her adaptation in live-action will look, though it’s teased that she might have more of an anti-hero vibe.

Judging by the video that was released (which is only available to watch on Disney+, naturally), it would appear the schedule will go something like this:

  • “Hawkeye” (November 2021)
  • “Moon Knight” and “She-Hulk” (First-half of 2022)
  • “Ms. Marvel” (Summer 2022)
  • “Echo,” “Agatha: House of Harkness,” “Secret Invasion,” “Iron Heart,” and “Armor Wars” (Late 2022/Early 2023)

That’s a busy, busy schedule for Marvel Studios on Disney+. That doesn’t take into account the various animated series that are currently in development as well. However, considering how animation takes quite a bit longer to create, those are likely more in line with 2023 debuts and beyond.

All told, if you have Disney+ for Marvel Studios content mainly, then you’re likely going to want to keep that subscription for at least another year.
