In all the noise about Netflix Marvel shows (R.I.P.), the other MCU television series on Freeform, Hulu and beyond tend to get a little lost–even if they’re better. The first season of Marvel’s “Cloak and Dagger” received critical acclaim, though not as much audience attention as superhero shows on Netflix. But now the series is set to return for its second season this spring on Freeform, and the teen-focused network has just released the first trailer.
Aubrey Joseph stars as Tyrone Johnson aka Cloak, and Olivia Holt plays Tandy Bowen aka Dagger, two teens who discover they have powers that link them together. Here’s the synopsis for season two from Marvel.com:
“Season 2 turns the heat up on our young heroes, as Tyrone and Tandy try to find their place as more active heroes in this world. As they learn and grow emotionally, so will their skills. We saw Tandy and Ty dip their toes into the world of hopes and fears; this season, they will dive deeper into this metaphysical pool. With enhanced powers and a choice to make about the type of heroes they want to be, they make the choice to run into the danger, head first. They tackle a heartless vigilante and uncover an evil that’s been preying on the young women of the city, as the show takes on more serious topics like gang violence and human trafficking.”

Those worried that “Cloak and Dagger” might suffer a similar fate as “Jessica Jones,” The Punisher” and more can likely rest easy. Freeform, formerly ABC Family, is part of the Disney family, which means that “Cloak and Dagger” is less likely to get caught in between the streaming giants as Disney is set to launch Disney +.
The second season of “Cloak and Dagger” premieres Thursday, April 4 on Freeform and you can catch up on the first season, currently streaming on Hulu. Here is the trailer for this upcoming season.
