Got a Tip?

Marvel Announces ‘Ant-Man’ Sequel, Adjusts Phase 3 Release Dates, Unveils Three Mystery Movies

Paul Rudd-Ant-Man-680Next year, Marvel‘s Phase Three kicks off with "Captain America: Civil War," and while it all builds toward the two-part "Avengers: Infinity War," it’s the individual movies between that are a bit more interesting to me (frankly, those team up movies are getting sort of exhausting). And today, the comic studio has announced big plans.

First and foremost, "Ant-Man" is getting a sequel. Even though the movie was one of the worst performing in Marvel’s recent history (adjusted for inflation, it’s the second worst domestic performer, sitting above "The Incredible Hulk"; unadjusted worldwide, it’s above ‘Hulk’ and "Captain America: The First Avenger") "Ant-Man" will be followed by "Ant-Man And The Wasp." The movie will open on July 6, 2018.

This means a couple of other planned Marvel movies are shifting around: "Black Panther" now arrives on February 16, 2018 and "Captain Marvel" on March 8, 2019. Oh wait, there’s more.

Marvel has also slated three, untitled movies for May 1, 2020, July 10, 2020, and November 6, 2020. Any guesses? Are these Phase Four movies? Let us know below. Sorry Spielberg, comic movies are still sticking around…

  1. If Spielberg continues to produce or otherwise has any kind of involvement with future Transformers films, his stance on comic book films matters a bit less than he hopes it would.
