The Film Society of Lincoln Center, in New York City, is celebrating its 50th anniversary in style. Next month, some of the biggest names in film gather at the center for a special gala that will honor the organization’s legendary past and vibrant present, and looking ahead as it extends its commitment to the film community. And to do that, the Lincoln Center is once again rolling out the red carpet, inviting a who’s who of filmmaking to speak at the event.
Today, it was announced by the Film Society of Lincoln Center that Darren Aronofsky, Jake Gyllenhaal, Dee Rees, and Martin Scorsese have joined the event as special guest speakers. These folks join the already-announced special guests that include Pedro Almodóvar, Marielle Heller, Tilda Swinton, and John Waters. You can’t get much more legendary and eclectic as that, right?
The special guests are scheduled to present collections of interviews, archival footage, photographs, and film clips that will illustrate just how the Film Society of Lincoln Center has introduced audiences to many of the industry’s most acclaimed and important filmmakers.
The 50th Anniversary Gala takes place on April 29 in New York City. You can learn more information about the event at the official Film Society website.
And to kick off the excitement, the folks over at the Lincoln Center have created a new trailer to showcase a bit of what people can expect at this year’s gala.
