Got a Tip?

Martin Scorsese Directed Ad For The Next Chanel Men’s Fragrance Campaign Is In The Can

It’s been a busy week for Martin Scorsese fans. First came the (now debunked) rumor that he would be collaborating with Lars Von Trier on a “Five Obstructions” style remake of “Taxi Driver,” and then the news that his next fim, the children’s fantasy “Hugo Cabret” would be shot in 3D.

Today, word has arrived that Scorsese has completed an ad as part of the campaign for Chanel’s latest men’s fragrance, that will be launching in September. This isn’t the first time the esteemed fashion house has borrowed talent from the film world, as they’ve previously commissioned Baz Luhrmann and Jean-Pierre Jeunet for big budget shorts for Chanel No. 5. No details have emerged just yet except that Gaspard Ulliel stars in the piece.

Before purists cry foul, may we just remind you that this certainly isn’t Scorsese’s first venture into the commercial world. He has starred in a series of American Express ads, and directed the Hitchcock homage, “The Key To Reserva” for Freixenet wine (watch it below). If this brings us closer to getting “Silence” in front of cameras, then we’re all for it.

And just you case you need reminding, “Shutter Island” opens this weekend.
