Got a Tip?

Mark Wahlberg Talks ‘The Hangover’ Inspired ‘Entourage’ Movie

As “Entourage” gears up for its seventh season this summer, Mark Wahlberg has hit the press circuit to promote the show he executive produces and sometimes appears on, and it seems the show is preparing to make a meta-jump to the big screen.

Speaking with MTV, Wahlberg seems driven to make it happen saying, “I am more focused on making that movie than my own films. I just think we can make a great movie. I think people always wanted [it] and have complained that the episodes are too short — they’ve always wanted more. I think we’re going to do it.”

And Walhberg even has a timeline and seemingly a storyline worked out with the film arriving in the middle of (or during a shortened) six episode season eight, leading to a trailer that sounds very, very familiar to a recent box office comedy smash: “We’re going to have six episodes next year and end with a bang and then in the trailer you see [Ari Gold (Jeremy Piven) and his associate, Lloyd (Rex Lee)] waking up together in Vegas not knowing what happened.”

You gotta sort of admire Wahlberg for having the balls to pretty much copycat “The Hangover,” but we can’t imagine how ludicrous the once incisive show will have to get to find Ari and Lloyd in Vegas with no recollection of what happened. Not to mention that in general, “movies about movies” are notoriously hit and miss. For every “The Player” there is something like “What Just Happened.” Anyway, we still have “Tilda” to look forward to for our inside baseball movie industry fix.

Tune in to the further adventures of Ari Gold and company when “Entourage” season 7 begins on June 27th.
