Last night before bed, “oh hey, Total Film says: Mark Strong spills Sherlock Holmes ending.” Today, that link is dead and pulled down. OK, easy Google cache doesn’t lie, huh? Wait, seems to be gone. Oh wait, /Film finds the existing link. Nice one.
Anyhow, yes, actor Mark Strong has been cast as the main villain in Guy Ritchie’s “Sherlock Holmes,” this we know. Well in the aforementioned interview with Total Film, Strong spilled the beans on the movie (sort of, don’t worry too much). He describes his nefarious Satanist Lord Blackwood character.
“There’s a touch of Dracula about him. He needed to have an element of showmanship about him by virtue of the fact that he’s trying to persuade everyone around him that he’s so in league with the Devil that he’s able to conquer death. I just wanted to make him an equal adversary of Sherlock Holmes.”
And then he sort of spoils the ending, which is not really, he kind of just describes what happens in the climax, but non-spoiler types may want to look away.
“There’s a fantastic sequence where we duel to the death on a half-built Tower Bridge. It’s a perfect way to end the movie, Robert and I hammering seven bells out of each other on top of this swinging bridge with Victorian London as a backdrop. It’s going to be amazing.”
We suppose that’s a spoiler, but not really, don’t fret. More non-spoilery details in our “Sherlock Holmes” script review which is always about the mood and tone anyhow. We don’t give away major plot points. The film stars Robert Downey, Jr., Jude Law, Rachel McAdams and is due in theaters December 25.
