While a minor controversy erupted last month when the Broadcast Film Critics Association added "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" to the list of Best Picture nominees even though voting had ended, it was for naught. J.J. Abrams‘ movie didn’t win the big prize, it was another blockbuster that shone brightest.
"Mad Max: Fury Road" took home nine prizes, with Best Director being the biggest, and technical prizes making up much of the rest. However, when it came to the major categories, the love was shared around. "Spotlight" nabbed Best Picture, Leonardo DiCaprio and Brie Larson (both Oscar nominees too), took home Best Actor and Best Actress, respectively, and Sylvester Stallone followed his Globes win for "Creed" with Supporting Actor, while Alicia Vikander nabbed Supporting Actress.
In the TV categories, "Fargo" had the most wins with four, but it was "Mr. Robot" that landed Best Drama series.
