Got a Tip?

M. Night Shyamalan’s New Film Is An Adaptation Of Paul Tremblay’s ‘Cabin At The End Of The World’

M. Night Shyamalan is notorious for keeping the details of his films a secret until as close to release as possible. So, it was no surprise when his upcoming film, “Knock at the Cabin,” was announced, all that was known was a title and a release date. However, as plot details started to emerge, perceptive fans noticed similarities between ‘Knock’ and a popular horror novel by author Paul Tremblay. Well, now it’s been confirmed that those similarities are not coincidental.

According to an interview with CNBC, author Paul Tremblay has confirmed M. Night Shyamalan’s “Knock at the Cabin” is, in fact, an adaptation of the novel, “Cabin at the End of the World.” With that knowledge, we now can surmise more plot details. Released in 2018, “Cabin at the End of the World” tells the story of a family taking a vacation in secluded New Hampshire. However, the family’s vacation is upended when another group of people takes the family hostage and starts talking about the end of the world.

It’s not shocking that Shyamalan is working on another horror-thriller, as that is definitely his preferred genre. However, ‘Knock’ marks the second time in a row the filmmaker has adapted a previously-released source material. His previous film, “Old,” was adapted from a graphic novel. And as you might expect, Shyamalan will likely take the ‘End of the World’ and change large portions of it for the film adaptation. But if you were wondering what the filmmaker has up his sleeve, now we have a clearer idea.

“Knock at the Cabin” is set to star Dave Bautista, Jonathan Groff, and Rupert Grint. The film is expected to arrive in theaters on February 3, 2023.
