Got a Tip?

M. Night Shyamalan & Bruce Willis Reunite For A ‘Labor Of Love’

M. Night Shyamalan Bruce Willis

While both of their trajectories have fallen into mediocrity, at one time M. Night Shyamalan and Bruce Willis were hard to beat. For a moment there in the late ’90s and early ’00s, the duo mesmerized audiences and critics with supernatural offerings “The Sixth Sense” and “Unbreakable,” before they broke apart and saw a general decline in quality output. So maybe, together once again, they can make magic happen?

They’ll give it a shot with an early Shyamalan script, “Labor Of Love.” It was apparently one of the first screenplays Shyamalan ever sold, and unlike the special effects spectacles of late he’s become known for, this is a supernatural romance, and a seemingly much lower key offering. A smart choice for the filmmaker who probably won’t be getting “After Earth” sized budgets to work with anytime soon anyway. As for the synopsis? Get out your hankies, because this is what Deadline had to say:

In Labor Of Love, Willis will play a Philadelphia book store owner who loses the love of  his life in a tragic accident. Never big on words, he becomes haunted by the notion that he never properly told his wife how much he loved her. Since she once asked if he would walk across the country for her, he decides to show her posthumously just how much he did love her. That trek starts from Philadelphia to Pacifica, CA, which was her favorite place.

Uh, yeesh…. Good to luck them, we suppose. Production on the movie starts in September and let’s hope it’s as Nicholas Sparks as it sounds.

  1. YES! M. Night is a genius. A master of suspense.
And he's also making a creepy thriller this year. According to his Twitter account, it involves filming inside a "spooky house". I can't wait for BOTH of these movies. There's no they will both be thrilling/charming and, most importantly, brilliant.

  2. good luck with this. considering most of the work they did over the past few years, I can already imagine how nothing will be left to imagination (to the producer team: I suppose 50% of the budget goes to the music department, helping get any idea trough that story telling can't)… However, I would like both of them to try to get something sincerely great to the screen. Someone please quick them in the ass to wake up!
